Capitone > Pillow > Base > Leg > Stool
My main goal in this project was to intervene in the order and hierarchy of the traditional upholstery layers, and to bring added value out of that intervention. At the beginning of its historical course, the Capitone technique was somewhat functional as it clamped the wide padding layer to the carriage walls. Today this technique functions primarily as an aesthetic finish for furniture.
I used the "button" as the component that connects the upholstery layers to a piece of furniture. The capitone has turned from a button to a Join with an internal thread to which the leg is screwed through the base and the pillow.
